Program Description

The department is committed to preparing male and female nursing students with the knowledge, skills, and professional competencies necessary to provide high-quality, evidence-based nursing care in the fields of community health and mental health.

  • Clinical Competence: Synthesize concepts and theories to assess patient needs and provide appropriate, holistic nursing care.
  • Decision Making: Integrate knowledge from various disciplines to inform evidence-based clinical decision-making.
  • Community Awareness: Identify community resources (e.g., school health, geriatric services) and apply the nursing process in diverse settings like homes and mental health institutions.
  • Psychiatric Care: Explore common mental disorders and apply the nursing process to care for clients with conditions such as schizophrenia and mood disorders.
  • Ethical Practice: Actively promote the rights, safety, and security of patients while adhering to professional nursing ethics.
  • Communication: Develop advanced skills in therapeutic communication and inter-professional collaboration.
  • Cultural Sensitivity: Apply knowledge of social and cultural factors to provide care for diverse individuals and families within the Saudi community.

– High School Background: Must have a secondary school certificate from the Science Stream KSU Admission.

– Weighted Admission Score: Admission is based on a composite of your High School GPA, the GAT (Qiyas), and the SAAT (Tahsili). For health colleges, the SAAT usually carries the most weight (40%).

– Common First Year (CFY): You must first complete the Health Track of the Common First Year. Allocation to the Nursing major happens after the CFY based on your GPA and available seats.

– Health Fitness: Candidates must pass a medical fitness examination to ensure they can perform clinical duties.

– Language: Since the curriculum is in English, you must demonstrate proficiency during the CFY KSU English Requirements
