Program Description

The Dental Technology Program prepares students to gain experiences in all advanced dental technology aspects: Complete Denture Prosthodontics. Removable Partial Denture Prosthodontics. Fixed Restorative Prosthodontics. Orthodontic appliances. Maxillofacial Prosthetic appliances. The program comprises the study of structure and function of masticatory system and the most appropriate way of teeth restoration.

  • Knowledge & Understanding:
    • Explain fundamental concepts, principles, and theories of modern dental technology.
    • Identify the anatomical and physiological structures of the human body and masticatory system.
    • Master the selection and use of advanced dental materials (ceramics, metals, and polymers) based on their chemical and mechanical properties.
  • Practical & Technical Skills:
    • Prosthetic Fabrication: Construct fixed (crowns and bridges) and removable (complete and partial dentures) prostheses.
    • Specialized Appliances: Design and manufacture orthodontic appliances and complex maxillofacial prosthetics to replace missing facial structures.
    • Digital Proficiency: Utilize modern CAD/CAM systems, digital scanning, and computer-aided manufacturing tools.
    • Infection Control: Implement strict laboratory safety and infection control protocols.
  • Values & Professionalism:
    • Ethics & Legality: Provide services in accordance with medical rules, regulations, and high ethical standards.
    • Leadership & Management: Demonstrate self-reliance and confidence in managing dental laboratories and working effectively in healthcare teams.
    • Problem-Solving: Apply critical thinking to solve standard and non-standard dental technical problems.
  • Academic Background: Applicants must have a high school diploma from the Scientific Section.
  • Common First Year (CFY): Successful completion of the Health Sciences preparatory year at KSU is required. Admission into the Dental Technology major is highly competitive and based on the cumulative GPA achieved during this year (typically 3.0/5.0 or higher).
  • Standardized Tests: Admission scores are calculated using a weighted average of the high school GPA, General Aptitude Test (GAT), and Scholastic Achievement Admission Test (SAAT).
  • Medical Fitness: Candidates must be declared medically fit through an official university examination.
  • Age Limit: Applicants should generally be under 25 years of age at the time of application.
