According to statistics from the Jordanian Association of Medical Laboratories, there are currently around 27,000 graduates from Jordanian universities and institutes in the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan practicing the profession of medical laboratory analysis in both the public and private sectors, the vast majority of whom hold a bachelor’s degree.
There are official bodies that regulate the medical laboratory profession, including the Ministry of Health, which grants the license to practice medical laboratory analysis in the Kingdom; the Medical Laboratories Association, which is the official body responsible for developing the profession and its related scientific and professional activities; and the Syndicate of Medical Laboratory Owners and Specialists, which is a labor union concerned with the professional affairs of its specialized members.
It is worth noting that after the COVID-19 pandemic, the scope of the specialty and its workplaces expanded, especially in the private sector, research centers, and epidemiological investigation teams. Consequently, the demand for the specialty has increased, particularly in light of the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan’s efforts to become a hub for laboratory and clinical work, especially that related to laboratory diagnosis of diseases.
