Program Description

The MS in Exercise Science program offers an advanced understanding of how the body responds and adapts to the physical stress of exercise, and how to identify and modify behaviors and environments to optimize health and performance.

Hosting Institution

Key outcomes include the ability to:

  • Analyze Physiological Responses: Understand the acute and chronic physiological adaptations to exercise and disease within the nervous, muscular, and cardiovascular systems.
  • Apply Biomechanical Principles: Use physics and mechanics to analyze human movement, including forces within muscles and joint design.
  • Implement Behavioral Interventions: Identify and modify behaviors and environments to promote physical activity across diverse populations, including children and older adults.
  • Conduct Advanced Research: Design and execute empirical research using complex epidemiological and experimental designs to test hypotheses in exercise science.
  • Design Health Programs: Develop exercise testing and training programs tailored to both healthy individuals and those at risk for chronic diseases.

  • Prior Degree: A bachelor’s degree from a recognized university in exercise science or a related field, such as biological or biomedical sciences.
  • Academic Performance: A strong academic record with a minimum GPA of 3.0 out of 4.0.
  • Prerequisite Knowledge: Evidence of previous coursework in human anatomy and physiology is typically required.
  • Research Experience: While not strictly mandatory, applicants with prior research experience are preferred.
  • IELTS: Minimum score of 6.5.
  • TOEFL: Minimum score of 79.
  • Exemptions: Potential exemptions may exist for applicants who completed their degree at an institution where English was the medium of instruction.
